P is for pumpkin! L is for the rest of the leaves pictures I took last week.

This week we are learning about letter Pp and the sound it makes. We have been learning a lot about pumpkins. We have talked about where they grow and how (seed, sprout, vine/leaves, flower, green pumpkin, orange pumpkin), and what we can do with pumpkins (make a scarecrow, pumpkin pie, jack o'lanterns). On Tuesday we made pumpkin pie scented playdough as a class and today we cut open a pumpkin and got to feel around inside. Each friend took out some seeds that we will be using for an activity tomorrow.

Science Center- Investigating leaves, pine cones, small pumpkins and gourds using magnifying glasses, a scale, and tongs.

Feeling the inside of a pumpkin and collecting seeds
Student reactions of feeling the inside of a pumpkin: "Nasty!" "Wet""Gooey""Cold"

We read the story Leaf Man and then made our own leaf men. *These might not make it home since they will be all crunchy and will probably fall apart soon.

Block Center- 2 friends decided to make laptop computers out of waffle blocks. Very creative!

Next week we will be doing letter Ss for spiders and spider webs, skeletons, and we will make slime!

*I am still trying to schedule parent conferences on November 16th which is a half day of school with dismissal at 12:00. Children receiving services from Beginnings will not have conferences on Nov. 16th since Ms. Kennedy will not be available. We will contact you to set up a time to meet.
